Broken bits of ceramic have been used to create a mosaic representing movement and signs of life.
My work is very textural and predominantly uses mixed media techniques. Organic materials and natural forms inspire my practice and are informed by primary and secondary research.
Overall, the focus of my work often reflects the disturbing aspects of nature, which we often don't notice. This may take the form of skin diseases, dirty hands, gangrene or the after effects of a nuclear fallout. I take the viewer to what they think maybe a colourful, pretty piece of work, but on reflection it is the disturbing aspects of a world we don't see which is most significant.
The artist's that have been most influential to me are street artist Slinkachu, and the sculptor Ron Mueck. Much of my work challenges or abstracts perspective as well as viewers preconceptions. Like these artists, I aim to push the boundaries of my subject in order to force a reaction from the audience.
